A cochlear implant will not cure deafness or hearing impairment, but is a prosthetic substitute for hearing, often requiring ongoing audiological therapy and, in some cases, speech therapy.  Implants don't always completely restore your hearing and almost always need a period of adjustment for you to get used to the sounds you are hearing. 

Thus, having a cochlear implant is a unique experience for many and sharing the experience with others is a great idea.
