About CHS Elliot Lake

Aucune traduction disponible

CHS Elliot Lake was opened in September of 2000.  It is a small office in The Huron Lodge, which is an assisted living facility for seniors, located in the downtown area of the City of Elliot Lake.

Presently there is one part-time staff member working out of this office Tuesday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  The Elliot Lake Office serves the Algoma District which includes the city of Elliot Lake, Blind River, Iron Bridge, Thessalon, and the North Shore (Algoma Mills, Spragge and Serpent River.)

Elliot Lake is a modern fully serviced community with a population of about 14,000 which boasts the largest population of seniors in Canada, due in large part to a number of factors.  The houses and rents are affordable.  Crime is almost non-existent. The air is clean and there are literally thousands of sparkling, crystal clear lakes and rivers to swim and fish in.  There are also over 300 kilometers of trails to choose from for hiking and recreational vehicles.

The City of Elliot Lake, once known as the Uranium Capital of the World, almost became a ghost town after mining ceased.  It is thanks to the tenaciousness of some of its citizens that the city has become one of the ten most popular retirement destinations in Canada.

With such a large concentration of seniors it was a given that The Canadian Hearing Society would open a local office here.  We look forward to growing with the community.
