Sign Language Classes for Individuals

Aucune traduction disponible

Sign language classes at The Canadian Hearing Society are one of the most exciting and enjoyable ways of learning to sign.  As with learning any language, it's also important to learn something about the culture behind the language and this is where the Signing Naturally curriculum excels.

The Signing Naturally Curriculum

Signing Naturally is the curriculum used by The Canadian Hearing Society to teach sign language.  Developed at Vista Community College in Berkeley, California, it teaches Deaf culture as well as sign language.  You'll learn through classroom instruction, one-on-one instruction, video and a variety of workbooks.  One unique and fun feature of our sign language classes is that there is a no-voice rule which reinforces learning and a sense of immersion in the language.

We offer several kinds of sign language courses: regular, immersion and night classes.

Regular Classes

Regular classes are usually several hours in length, usually once a week, and often take place during the day.  Course duration can be several weeks, with homework being given between classes.

Immersion Classes

Immersion classes are daily classes, often from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., designed to completely immerse you in the language and culture.  These classes are usually one week per unit and are an excellent way to learn through constant reinforcement and practice of the lessons learned.  This is an extremely popular way of learning sign language.

Night Classes

Night classes are regular classes but are ideal for those who have day jobs or prefer to learn in the evening.
