CHS Chief Audiologist elected President of the Canadian Academy of Audiology

Toronto, ON (Oct 4, 2010) - The Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) is pleased to announce that Rex Banks, CHS Chief Audiologist, has been elected President of the Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA). Rex has been a board member with CAA for two years, has been with CHS for nine years, and currently leads a team of 17 audiologists at CHS.
This week marks National Audiology Week dedicated to the promotion and support of the profession of audiology in Canada. CAA advocates on behalf of audiologists on relevant and national issues. It is committed to improving the abilities of its members through conferences, workshops, seminars and research.

CHS offers a wide range of audiology services in its 10 Hearing Health Care Centres including hearing testing, hearing aid prescriptions and sales, along with education and support programs for both children and adults in an accessible environment. CHS audiologists refer to other relevant CHS and community services to assist people in managing their hearing loss and in breaking down communication barriers.

The Canadian Academy of Audiology is the national association for audiology in Canada. CAA is a professional organization dedicated to enhancing the profession of Audiology, the provision of quality hearing health care and education to those with, or at risk for, hearing and/or vestibular disorders.
