POSITION SUMMARY:
As a member of the Marketing & Communication department, the Coordinator of Marketing is responsible for promoting The Canadian Hearing Society using market research and strategies to determine market and media/advertising presence opportunities resulting in improved market penetration and share. The incumbent will be responsible for market research, creating a marketing strategy, and executing marketing initiatives and advertising for specific programs (emphasis on revenue-generating programs). Further, the coordinator is responsible for ensuring promotional standards and reflecting the CHS brand across mediums, and plays a lead role encompassing all efforts agency-wide.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Service:
• Develop, lead, implement, coordinate, and measure marketing plans/strategies to maximize positive public exposure for CHS agency-wide and program-specifically
• Conduct market research
• Develop and cultivate contacts and relationships with local, national and on occasion international, media representatives and create proactive media/advertising opportunities
• Develop and cultivate close relationships with key industry stakeholders (government, partner associations, suppliers, consumers, CHS Senior Management)
• Schedule advertising, develop ad concepts, write copy and designate placement
• Work in a team with regards to public and media relations, information development, website content, and brand
• Develop marketing collateral
• Initiate research and write materials for special projects
• Assist in organizing and coordinating local and provincial marketing events
• Liaise with regional offices and internal programs and departments to assist in meeting their marketing needs
• Ensure all marketing initiatives reflect consistent messaging in keeping with CHS brand essence, standards, vision and mission
• Help reinforce a consistent professional style, tone and identity in all marketing efforts to strengthen corporate public profile
• Assist Director of Marketing & Communications in preparation of other projects as required
• Participate in strategic planning for Marketing & Communications department
• Other duties as assigned
Administration:
• Marketing project planning: from concept to wrap-up
• Measurement: track the progress of various deliverables towards completion within deadlines and cost allowance
• Internal Requests: receive and respond to service and support requests as they pertain to marketing
• External Requests: receive and respond to requests for information and meetings as they pertain to marketing
• Feedback Mechanism: continuously gather input and coordinate feedback; conduct surveys, coordinate responses as required; analyse statistical data and provide recommendations
• Respond to expectations/concerns
• Support the activities of any CHS committee initiatives related to marketing
• Maintain materials, templates and program materials, etc. e.g. on the CHS Intranet
• Regularly communicate status and priorities of all events and projects
• Place orders and liaise with suppliers and other vendors
• Monitor filing and invoicing systems
• Contribute to the preparation of quarterly reports and budgets according to variable internal and external requirements as required
• General project support to staff and volunteers
• Other duties as assigned
Community Education:
• Provide information for general public inquiries as required
• Participate in /provide assistance to community events and special projects e.g. fundraising campaigns, Maymonth, United Way Campaigns, etc.
• Represent CHS at various information sessions/conferences/events/shows
Supervision:
• Provide direction and support to staff and volunteers who assist/participate in the projects or media events that are coordinated under this portfolio
Professional Development:
• Acquire and maintain the American Sign Language (ASL) Proficiency requirement for this position – course and time are provided
• Attend internal staff meetings
• Attend and participate in workshops/seminars related to position
• Keep up-to-date on issues and information related to position and agency
LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Director, Marketing & Communications
QUALIFICATIONS:
• College diploma in Business Marketing, or related discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years related work experience; preferably working in not-for-profit environment
• Superior English skills; French an asset
• Proficiency in ASL; la langue des signes québécoise (LSQ) an asset
• Ability to think outside the box; creative and critical thinker; excellent judgement
• Exceptional ability to develop interpersonal relationships; foster teamwork and negotiate in a diverse and fast-paced environment with competing priorities
• Demonstrate strategic approach; results driven
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and Outlook
• Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment
• Occasional local and out of town travel e.g. events, training, visiting regional offices, etc.
